what is your role at noa?
I am the founder of noa and an investor. As a member of our investment team, I specialise in sourcing and building relationships with promising founders and managing our partnerships with our portfolio companies to support them on their journey. My role extends beyond the investments: I oversee the strategy and vision of our firm, ensuring that we stay true to our mission and values along the way.
what is your backstory?
I was born in Switzerland to an Italian Argentinian mother and a French father who was born in Morocco. Growing up in the serene Swiss countryside of Lausanne, I developed a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives, as well as a profound passion for nature and the planet. These early experiences instilled in me a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. I studied at HEC Lausanne and the London School of Economics, earning an MSc in Business & Finance, and later attended executive education at Harvard Business School. My professional journey began in investment banking where I spent close to a decade, before becoming an entrepreneur in real estate where I successfully built AMD. Building noa (formerly A/O) represents the culmination of decades of life experiences, ambition and challenges. It connects the dots between my background in finance, my entrepreneurial spirit, and my lifelong passion for nature and the planet.
what excites you about built world tech?
Simply put, the built world is one of the most powerful vectors for positive, sustained change in the world. As the largest and most polluting industry globally, it presents an incredible opportunity to make a significant impact on our planet. The potential to transform this industry excites me deeply. The idea that we can reduce its environmental footprint while enhancing the quality of life for countless people is unique. I feel both empowered and inspired to play a part in this important transformation, driving innovation and sustainability in the largest in the world’s largest industry.
what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, it's all about family, family, family. I cherish every moment spent with my wife and our two little boys. Beyond that, I dedicate a lot of my time to sports, wellness, and longevity. Staying active and healthy is a priority for me, as it fuels my energy and enthusiasm for both work and life. I also love travelling the world to explore new cultures and landscapes, continually seeking inspiration and adventure.
what’s your favourite city and why?
My favourite city has to be Tokyo. It's the only place in the world where I felt like I was on another planet. The blend between ancient culture and modern buildings is truly special. Walking through Tokyo, you can experience centuries-old temples and shrines alongside cutting-edge architecture and technology. This unique juxtaposition creates an atmosphere that is both mesmerising and inspiring, offering a constant reminder of the harmonious coexistence of tradition and innovation.
